Cape Cod Polishing Kit

Cape Cod Polish Kit

Used for polishing silver, brass, copper, chrome, pewter, aluminum and stainless steel. We do not recommend use on plated objects. Contains petroleum distillates. When dry, a few drops of mineral spirits will allow a cloth to be reused many times.

Pumice

Pumice is ordinarily used in hand polishing operations. Pumice is typically chosen to remove layered oxides. This material is not designed to achieve mirror finishes. Pumice is also used on lacquer or varnish coatings (often with linseed oil and a fine felt pad) to achieve a fine, soft finish. Five pounds per jar.

Rottenstone

Rottenstone is ordinarily used in hand polishing operations. Rottenstone is softer than pumice and the particle size breaks down easily under use. Thus, Rottenstone is used to achieve smooth, final finishes. This material is not designed to achieve mirror finishes. Rottenstone is also used on lacquer or varnish coatings (often with linseed oil and a fine felt pad) to achieve a fine, soft finish.

Solvol Autosol

Solvol Autosol

Solvol Autosol Metal Polish removes rust and corrosion from bright work. Brilliantly polishes aluminum, stainless steel, brass, copper and nickel. Solvol Autosol consists of a spirit soap plus a very fine abrasive of such a nature that it becomes even finer in use. It is useful for polishing marble, opal and ivory. It is especially useful for removing ball pen ink stains from marble. Simply apply Solvol Autosol to cotton and work into the detail work of marble sculpture with a wood toothpick. Remove residual Solvol Autosol with Stoddard Solvent.

Solvol Autosol plus a few drops of fine oil, placed upon a piece of plate glass or upon a leather strap, is capable of putting a specially keen edge on chisels and other wood cutting tools.
