Microcrystalline Waxes

These waxes are obtained from the refining of petroleum reaction and they consist of very complex mixtures of isoparaffinic and naphthenic hydrocarbons with molecular weights of 500 to 800 or so. Microcrystalline waxes are much less crystalline than paraffin waxes, the crystals are extremely thin and they are dispersed in a large amount of non-crystalline, super-cooled, highly viscous material. This is what gives rise to the unusual adhesive and flexibility properties of the microcrystalline waxes. These superb waxes are of the highest quality.

Renaissance Wax

Renaissance Wax
Renaissance wax translucency allows unlimited applications without obscuring fine surface details.

Renaissance wax may be used with complete success on any solid surface including wood, metal, marble, onyx, shell, stone, ivory, plastics, leather and even paper. A simple test on a white card will show that the polish does not stain or discolor. Having a moisture resistance greatly superior to that of other waxes, Renaissance wax will protect polished surfaces (especially marble) from normal spillage. The hardness of a matured wax coating also gives excellent protection against heat and finger marks, which are easily buffed away.

Unlike normal polishes which are liberally applied, Renaissance gives its best results when used with restraint. The refined microcrystalline waxes have a far greater spread, so small dabs go a long way. Rewaxing is required less frequently, too. Renaissance wax is the best furniture polish

Conservation Wax

This proprietary blend of natural waxes is used by many museums in the New England region as a backing wax for deteriorating paintings. Applied in conjunction with sheet reinforcement or without, depending on the extent of damage and materials involved. Melting point: 140°F. Conservation Wax has a Flash Point of 350°F and should be melted in a double boiler to prevent overheating and loss of volatile components.

D2522-0055 lb$167.00
D2522-2501/2 lb$20.50

Polywax 2000

Polywax 2000 is a polymer of ethylene with a molecular weight of 2000. It melts at 257°F and can be most easily thought of as a high melting microcrystalline wax. Small percentages of Polywax 2000 can be added to regular microcrystalline waxes to substantially prolong the life of outdoor wax coatings.
